we bought 4 trees last summer off of idealworld but we have planted them.. i then saw them yesterday on idealworlds gardening show and was tempted to get them and leave them in the pots but was concerned about wind blowing them over so didnt bother.. pretty good price with the pots.. think it was £30 quid for the 4 + the pots0

I had 1 apple and 2 plum trees in pots until this last year. They did spot on.
1 apple tree was in a 10litre paint pot and I got about 20 small fruit on big enough to eat a couple of years back. 3 yrs ago it had 4 fruit on and they were massive. last year it about 20 on and I took about 12 off and the ones left made normal sized appled. I had to water it every day in the summer. it is a jonogold on an unknown root stock from wilkinsons and is about 5yrs old now. I put it in the ground this year as Ihave got fed up of water it so much.
Same for the the victoria plum tree unknown root stock from lidl or aldi. 2 yrs ago in the pot (about 30litres) got about 30fruit very nice fruit. had to water it ALL the time. last year went in ground and got 60fruit approx and very little watering. I still have a plum in a pot and would recommend it with some sort of micro irrigation system set up if possible.0 -
forgot to mention. I trim them ALOT. any branch that sticks out a lot or in the wrong direction or it just looks to big then it gets cut back. trim plums in summer and apples in winter.0
