Trying to find cheap home insurance melting my brain
MRB
I distinctly recall this time last year, spending an age trying to organise home insurance.
I used the comparison sites, but ended up going with Aviva for £290.
I can't remember why. I'm sure there was a good reason.
Looking at the usual suspects, I'm getting offers for around £130 upwards for the same level of cover bar some stupid things like 'Unlimited Cover' on buildings, which is pointless.
Yet I can't help but think that there was a damn good reason why I didn't take these cheaper offers up last year.
I think it had to do with most of the cheaper offers being through brokers underwritten by someone else.
Does this ring true with people?
At least if I have a claim with Aviva, it's an Aviva bod from start to finish.
I also notice they don't budge on price. I called Direct Line and got;
"We wont change the price. What you see is what you get. You either take it or don't."
Great service eh?
Anyone have any suggestions? Aviva are dropping to £240 this year, and I might just keep it to save the hassle of searching around to get a like-for-like quote.

Cashback perhaps?

I don't think its pointless - it has the huge benefit of you never being underinsured.

That doesn't have to be a bad thing - but search this forum for any you are thinking of to check reviews

I seem to recall Aviva had good cashback levels this time last year.0 -

In no way does that reflect on the standard of their service. Why should they change their price just because you want it cheaper? What reason would they have to do this? Do you go into tesco and say 'I don't want to pay a pound for a loaf of bread, are you going to give it to me cheaper?' And then when they obviously say no, go and bad mouth their service?0 -

This has got to be the most fantastic comment that I have ever seen on MSE.

I assume you have checked that the levels of cover are adequate. Also check compulsory / voluntary excess fees.
You could have a look here to compare policies
