Is the Charity site a con?

I went onto an online charity auction site a couple of days ago and bid on two items.
I was highest bidder on both of them and on my profile page it tells me the highest bid, the auction end date (yesterday), and that I was the highest bidder.
I waited for an email so I could pay but nothing came so I emailed them.
I received an email back saying that the auction isn't finished - apparently it's going to continue at a ball on Monday, however that wasn't mentioned in the description of either Lot, or the T's& C's of the site.
I have emailed the lady explaining that the summary states 'auction ended', not 'preview ended' but she hasn't replied yet.
What should I do?

Sounds like they expected the item to make more money than it did, and are hoping someone will bid more at the ball."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Thats my thoughts as well. I think I might push on though to see what they say.
They should have stuck a reserve on it if they wanted more money - although one of them is well in three figures...

Quite a few charities do this and not out of the ordinary. When the bidding starts at the ball it will start from the current high price.
A link to the site would help?0
