hi thank you all for your help and support i must admit i have tried to keep a spending diary but many times iforget to put things down i promise i will try better as from now. In regards to the disp income your correct it is quite high i must admit im not too bad as i always seem to have a little left at the end of the month which i put any spare into isa (well this all started in feb/march so only £400 at the moment.as for the lizard food it is quite a lot but i do have 5 of them but also to mention that i breed them as a hobby and every 5/6 months or so generate around £400/£500 which is how i have been getting the cc down from £4.5k to £850. i'm gonna go to the web site suggested to try and find cheaper gas/elec.

In regards to my home phone we must use it once or twice a week the bill is mainly for internet which to be honest i only go on for this and internet banking so i agree this is far too high.

I dont feel like i'm struggling to live on our wages at all but its just the fact that i feel ashamed and guilty about the debt i have and don't feel responsible which makes feel horrible.

also to mention the loan and car finance are at huge apr's i was thinking about a consol loan but having only bought our house last aug (2 prev addresses in last 3 years too) and my age (21) i feel it might be against me. My partner is 26 but wasn't too good at managing debt when younger is all paid off now but credit rating still tarnished. thanks again for taking the time to listen to me waffle on. x

Just an idea - could you save your loose change 1p 2p and 5p coins in a jar or something? Would soon bulid up . Could then bag up and bank or use for something else.

Have you looked on the other boards regarding meal planning? Need to be rather organised but could save you a few bob in the long run.

I found buying drinks out cost a small fortune........ now take a bottle a tap water.... if Im thirsty I will drink it....

Good luck with your plans - have great help on here.

I phoned BT the other night as my router had broken, and when they tried to charge me £40 for a new one I asked to be put through to cancellations. Ipointed out that if I went with AOL I'd get a free router and pay less a month and they agreed to reduce my broadband to £14.99 a month and sent me a new router. Might be worth giving it a try to get the price down. Also look at what Talk option you're with to get it up that high, especially if you don't use the phone that often.
