For the cigs, try switching to rollies to help the transition, much cheaper
Okay so you have £1300 per month to service your debts at present.
HSBC card, min payment approx £25?
Can you overpay on the secured loan or the car finance?
I'd definitely contact Eversheds, find out the outstanding balance and the APR
Can think of two options, depending on the answer to the overpayment questionNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
hi just before i go i can make over pymt on car finance but they said i will still pay full term interest(i think it front loaded not sure)
as for sec loan i think thats in the same boat i don't no wether it would be worth saving and paying off early.
just to add my partner is workink away for 2 months at end of may and that will pull in £1300 per week so if you guys could find a use for that it would be great. speak to you all tomorrow night once againxxxchantellexxxx0 -
Okay, so it's probably not worth overpaying them then, so snowballing isn't really an option.
I'll use the figure of £1300 and see how you go with it... but start a spending diary and see where that disposable income is currently going
Debts
HSBC = you could pay up to £561, so call it £450 and see how you go for a month
Loan = £290
Car Finance = £299
EVERSHEDS = £150pm
Once HSBC is cleared then get the details from Eversheds, and see if you can attack them next.
Then start saving as much of that extra in a high rate saverNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
my basic monthly = £1300 (plus bonus can range from £50-£1500 but no guarenteed)
partners monthly= £2800 (can vary as self employed but this is the case most months)
TOTAL = £4100
MORTGAGE = £704
C/TAX = £148
GAS = £40 can you find a cheaper provider? look on uswitch even if you shave £5 off its a start
ELEC = £41 as above
WATER = £20
TV LICENCE = £11
SKY TV = £42.50 this is all intense and purposes a luxuary, but you have a huge ammount left at the end of the month ~ we will get to that ~ if this isnt the case though can this be cut down (package size) or can you go to freeview?
BT = £49.50 (Includes phone an bb-i do feel im been ripped off a bit) can you break this down into calls and internet? i would imediatly say get a cheaper bb (ie if you pay the top package on bt go for a company that offers it for £20) but if its mostly calls you need to address this problem seperatly
CAR INS = £60 (FOR BOTH OF US)
INSURANCES = £70 (includes mort life cover and crit ill and buildings and contents)
DOGS TRUST = £9.50
CIGGIES £160..:eek: (i'm working on this already cut down from 40 to 20 aiming for ten next month and then hopefully quit...so so hard) well done :T yes it is a huge chunk but if you can become cig free then it will help more than just your wallet, look in your gp surgery you could get help with this ie free patchs etc
FOOD = £240 if there are two of you i feel you could half this if you pop over to the os board they have great food tips, also take part in the store food challenge...
ISA = £150 (only started 2 mnths ago)
DIESEL = £60
TRAIN FARES = £80
LIZARD FOOD = £72 can you find this cheaper else where? i have a gekoo and i heve found a online retailer that will save me approx £5 a month ~ not a lot but he dont eat much
TOTAL = £1957.50
HSBC GOLD CARD £4.5K limit £850 o/s 15.9% ? =£100 pm
black horse secured consol loan £12.5k - 11.9k 14%..:eek: £290 60mnths
black horse car finance £11.5k-11k 20%..:eek: (i no youre all cringin right now) £299 60mnths
EVERSHEDS =£150pm o/s £2.5k ???? (this is a card boyf got in to difficulty with ages ago we dont even no what the right bal as we receive no communication from them????
TOTAL=839
total debt= £26252...:eek: :eek: :eek: ...THIS REALLY SCARES ME
TOTAL INC = £4100
TOTAL EXPEND =£2796.50
DISP= 1303.50 this in all and tense and purposes isnt true, the reason i say this is you have missed quite a few bits off your soa such as... birthdays/cristmas/holidays/haircuts/clothes/car repairs/mot/pensions... also you must be spending day to day, i suggest a spending diary for 2-4 weeks, this will show you where all you money falls too... if however this is your disposable income it looks to me that you will be able to debt bust quite a lot... you just need order and structure in which to do it
again chani welcome to mse... above i have added some comments to your soa... dont be affraid to post here, we will all help in some way we arnt here to critasise most have been in the same postion and other worse... and we can all beat this... welcome :j0 -
Hi there, got to dash as haven't realised the time and got a client to see, but my two quick suggestions are to keep a spending diary over the next few weeks and to see exactly where the money is going, and to have a look at the snowball calculator on https://www.whatsthecost.com
I know you cannot overpay the loans but it will still give you a starting point and help a bit with the focus and motivation.
