Paying for a courtesy car.....???
I would be going to another dealer myself, cheeky s*ds !!0 -
You have to watch the insurance excess on some of the 'free' courtesy cars. I had one where it was £1200.0

I wonder how many Passat owners are being fobbed off, or don't know about the front wing rust that is entirely a VW design flaw and don't think to get it fixed with the long corrosion warranty? Getting it done foc seems to be very hit or miss and I'm guessing its a dealership problem and not VW HQ.0

On the basis that it's pretty much standard with many car dealers to offer you a courtesy car (the clue is in the name), to make up for the inconvenience of you not having your own car whilst they fix a fault under warranty?
My local Kia dealer offers a courtesy car even if you're just having a service...
It's not compensation culture, it's something that is normally part of the package when you buy insurance, or have a fault (that is not your doing) dealt with under the warranty.
This is especially true if the work is going to take more than a day or two - a week is a very long time to be without your car if it's covered under warranty (about the only things I can think that would take a week with a car under warranty is either major work, or paintwork).
Op, what's wrong with the car?
I ask as a week seems a very long time.
It's a Passat estate and the tailgate rots from inside due to water getting in around the number plate lights. They are planning to clean it up and respray, but I'm betting on a complete replacement once they expose the damage.
I'm gobsmacked to be accused of grasping for compensation! I paid £20k for a car with a 12 year rust warranty and it is rusting! I'm expecting the repair to be free to me, without the inconvenience of using limited public transport around here to get around for a week....0
