The chances are they will refund + 8% + court costs just before it goes to court.
Or they decide not to turn up meaning a default win. Which means to get your money you have to go back and get baliffs appointed to chase the debt....Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Where did you book the cottage - online/agency?
Have you previously had a reply from the owner e.g. explaining why they aren't refunding?
The small claims court may be the way to go depending on how much time you have to pursue this for the amount involved.
You could always post a review of your experiences with the cottage owner on cottage review sites/where they advertise/you booked?
Hope this gets resolved.0 -
The problem here as far as I can see though is if you go to small claims court there is nothing stopping the landlord claiming you did £200 worth of damage and the deposit payed for that. Unless you have dated pics of the cottage as you left or something from the landlord saying it was fine there is always the possibility of that defense plus some pictures of preexisting damage along with a "quote" from his plasterer/painter/cleaner mate down the pub.0
