Dealership Warranty

Hi Everyone

I am new, this is my first post so pleae bare with me.

I have 2 X 12 month old Vauxhall Corsas that are due for their first service. The cost of a Vauxhall service is £179 each. A garage near where I work will do the same service for £79 plus vat. He says that my warranty will be fine as long as the garage I use is VAT registered.

Is this right?

Comments

  • He is yes, as long as he uses approved parts.
  • To be honest, it sounds a bit cheap to me.
    Je suis sabot...
  • Especially for the first service the extra hundred quid also ensures any updates & recalls are done on the car and makes any arguing over warranty easier in years to come

This is discussed almost every week and in the end it boils down to your call

Yes and no. Yes it will be fine as long as the garage uses genuine parts and carries out the service in accordance with the Vauxhall service schedule. For £79 I doubt it would be genuine parts nor done to the schedule as the first service typically includes a lot of checks to make sure stuff like suspension bolts haven't come loose. But be aware that if there are any ECU updates or recall work, these won't get done as only dealers can.

However I would put this to you. I would walk away from buying any 3 year old car which didn't have full main dealer service history because there are plenty out there which have.
