Transferring money internationally?

Hello there, I need to transfer €150 to my girlfriend in Germany.
I've got an HSBC account and hers is with Sparkasse, whats the easiest/fastest/cheapest way to do this?

    The cheapest way to transfer money is via paypal.

    Do Sparkasse have a UK partner? You could use electonic funds transfer from your HSBC account to hers, you'd need to ask what sort of time this could take though.

    If her bank has a UK partner, you could deposit cash there?

    Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm looking for a more secure way to send money to my American account to pay off a US student loan. Currently I send a monthly cheque via the post.

    Would I be able to use PayPal for this?
