My car (estate) is referred to as 'Sportbrake', and a nearest rival is referred to as a 'Shooting brake'.
I don't know what the point in it is, although it could possibly be like Audi's Avant?!

I had a 3-door Mk1 Focus and liked it quite a lot. Since I don't have kids, back seat access wasn't crucial. I swapped it for a 5-door Mondeo when I was driving elderly parents about. When I bought my Mk3 Focus in 2011 I would have gone back to the 3-door again but there isn't one. Even the ST only comes as a 5-door.
I think GB is right about the 3-door becoming a coupe as an alternative. If most of the 3-door customers wanted the sporty derivative (Civic Type-R, Focus ST, Golf GTI) then for the cost of the extra tooling, they could possibly get more customers by actually making a coupe roofline for those who want to make the statement of "I don't have kids - I'm not tied down" etc. This could also be the reasoning behind the foldy-roof ones - Focus CC, VW Eos, Astra TwinTop - but I suspect these have not really taken off much in the UK.I need to think of something new here...0 -

I'd still pick a tin top over anything else......if I didnt have kids
Been there, done that, and we got rid of it as they outgrew the back seats.

When an Estate is called a Touring you know that means "too small to be a fully fledged Estate car but a smidge bigger than a Hatchback."The man without a signature.0
