Sainsburys' Credit Card Refusal

Recently applied for a 12 months interest free credit card from Sainsburys to be told that I didn't match thier profile.

Maybe the problem is that because I don't have any other debt and have no money to transfer on to the card they know they will make no money out of me?

Is being in HM Forces a problem fior them too?

My Husband has just been refused a Tesco's Credit card and he too is in the Forces.
We have moved 3 times during the last 3 years (rented flat to Married quarters - with 1st son, to bigger Married quarters - with 2nd son)
We have no debts and pay everything up to date.

I don't know what their problem is??????????

It may be to do with having to be on the electoral register. In Northern Ireland you will have difficulty getting a CC unless you are registered to vote at the address you apply for the CC. You can become registered by contacting you local electoral office.

Not sure if its any different over there.

The problem is your lack of credit history. You might think having no debt is a good thing but for a credit score it is a bad thing as they can't see your approach to debt - you are an unknown. Also moving address frequently causes them a problem too, they like to know where they can find you.

I suggest you start by reading the article called "Credit Rating". You will see a direct link to it above.

I was also turned down by Sainsburys earlier this year but I wrote to them and explained why I thought I was just the type of customer they needed and they changed their minds. I now have a very pretty looking raspberry CC earning cash back, nectar points and 0% on purchases.

Any chance of getting a copy of that letter?? Not too good at sweet talking banks myself!
