It seems both strange and unfair that it wasn't a straightforward case of first come, first served.
I'd placed 2 orders with them before this one, over the last year or so, and all less than £20...so not exactly a particularly big/frequent spender! I assume that they still genuinely had stock when I got my order in but as to how they decided which orders to fulfil once the orders taken exceeded the stock available, who knows, and I totally appreciate how frustrating and disappointing this is as I've had it happen to me before with other retailers.
I received mine today and am really pleased with it (salted caramel truffles here I come!) but just wish that everyone else had been as lucky.0 -
Never ordered online from them before this selective order fulfillment. But I live where they have a shop and they've had plenty of custom from me that way.
It should just be an 'either all, or none' like other companies operate with glitches.
A few months ago Molten Brown did the same thing; cancelled some and fulfilled others on a £10 freee spend glitch working with sale items. The fact that they fulfilled mine did nothing to make me wish to shop with them again because they'd shown themselves to be a dishonourable company by cancelling other peoples' who'd ordered before me.
Carphone Warehouse also did the exactly same thing in December on the Samsung Galaxy tab2.
Yet I don't quite so easily recall the companies who blanket cancelled the glitch orders, nor do I distrust them so much

Mine arrived yesterday - put in the garage by the Yodel guy and I didn't see the card as it was mashed up in my letterbox!
I feel uncomfortable that I got mine when others didn't. I would have preferred for us all to have received them or nobody tbh. I just think it's shady and it's certainly not endeared me to them as a company.0 -
Got mine today, wrapped lovely so not going to open it as it's a present.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please!

Yup, mine arrived today also; gorgeous book and absolute bargain.
I was expecting only cake recipes, but there are also recipes for more everyday things like danish pastries, and biscuits - jammie dodgers, digestives, custard creams, bourbons etc!
Really looking forward to trying out a load of these, thanks again OP.0 -

I was a new customer and have never bought anything from them before so I don't know how they decided on orders.Won so far in 2017: ipad mini :j0 -

I know what you mean (and I feel bad for mentioning the deal in the first place) but I'm sure that nobody would begrudge those who did receive their order so I hope you still enjoy the book!
Selective fulfilment is bad practice though and I know what you mean, rellarips, about it leaving a lasting impression.0 -

Why would you feel bad - a bit of selective fulfillment on the part of the company concerned is no fault of yours and I am sure that everyone, myself included, deeply appreciates the time that you spend finding and posting fantastic deals for us to benefit from!! Thank you ever so much xo :T0 -

Ah, thank you! Well I guess what I meant was that I feel bad that apparently many ended up disappointed.
Anyway the beauty of MSE is that so many contribute and there's always another tempting deal just around the corner so here's to the next bargain! Onwards and upwards.....(or rather 'downwards' in the case of my ever-shrinking bank balance!)

This is why only some orders were cancelled, according to an email passed to me:
"Customer Service replied:
Dear xxxx,
I have checked your order, and it seems your order was cancelled as you have used multiple promotional codes, which is not permitted on the website.
You can place another order using only one discount code, and this should go through without incident.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Kind Regards
Customer Service"
So there you have it. Anyone with cancelled orders, it is because you used multiple promotion codes. If your order wasn't cancelled it was because... errrr... apparently, you didn't use multiple promotion codes... So according to UO CS, everyone here is lying that they did use multiple codes for this grabbit. Nice!0
