Best place to buy Disney tickets and how to get to Universal

I'm off to Disney later this year and just beginning to try to gain some idea on where best to buy tickets and would like advice for people who have been.

There are 2 of us (adults) and we will do 1 park each day. I've seen tickets advertised in dollars on a number of sites but not sure whether I can buy tickets in the UK from US sites?? Do I buy the tickets before going or should we buy them there and in that case where from??

Another question is we are staying in a Disney hotel but plan on going to Universal/Islands of adventure for a few days, again where is the best place to buy tickets for this, is it much more expensive to buy on the gate? Also we plan on getting a taxi to these parks as no free Disney transport, does anyone have a rough idea of how long and cost of a taxi there? Any links to sites would be great!

Personally, I would recommend getting your tickets in advance. For our tickets last November we used http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/ Excellent service and they will match prices from other ticket resellers. Also, you receive 'actual' tickets, not vouchers which need to be exchanged on arrival in Orlando.

Our tickets for Universal cost us £95 each, they were valid for both parks (and City Walk) for 14 days. Taxi from Disney to Universal will be quite expensive, maybe $40 - $50 each way I would guess.

For more advice, you would be best looking at the Orlando thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1820085 or on the forums on The Dibb website.

One other thing to mention, if you are planning on going to Seaworld and Aquatica water park, it maybe worth you considering Discovery Cove. Although the tickets are quite expensive, it's a great place to go and the tickets also give you 14 days access to Seaworld & Aquatica.

For example, a ticket for Seaworld & Aquatica could set you back £86 but you could get a Discovery Cove ticket for around £100 so it works out pretty good value if you make use of all the parks.
