In the interests of money saving....... You can sometimes get better deals off removal people if you avoid Fridays, they tend to be slack at the start of the week.....
  • If there are 4 or 5 or more in a chain it is usually easier to agree a date that is a Friday, if only 1 or 2 then any other day is usually OK if all agree.

And yes, removal men charge more for Fridays.

From my point of view as a conveyancing solicitor it is better to have completions spread out through the week, but the reality is that most people seem to prefer Fridays because they have the weekend to turn round in the property they have bought.

People just selling often like Mondays because they want the weekend before to clear the place!

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

    Are they buying Caravans? :rotfl:

    :D:D

I have a caravan that I can get to turn on its axle by remote control through 360 degrees - but not on my driveway as there isn't room!

I once acted in relation to a property on a main road where a planning application had been made for vehicular access and the Council insisted that the owner installed a car turntable in the front garden!

And this is alll about Friday completions, isn't it?:D:D:D

We moved on Friday the 13th as the removal costs were much cheaper than on a normal Friday.
  • If there isn't a long chain theres no reason you shouldn't complete on a Friday. It is the norm.
It might be cheaper to move another day and if you can get the time off work what does it matter?
Would recommend exchange of contracts at least a few days before.
    Good luck!

Most completions occur on a Friday, so that the new owners can move in over the weekend. Whilst problems due occur its not a problem 99% of the time.

Personally, I've always thought that having the weekend to prepared moving out is much more useful than having the weekend to unpack

    YMMV
