NOT the bank the debit is coming from holding things up.“ Do you mean that at point of sale the bank places an authorisation hold and then the retailer claims the money perhaps when doing reconciliation?
Retailers enters your card details and amount. That goes to card holders bank, who either approve or decline and that amount is then reserved for that retailer.
Some retailers will ask for the full amount some will simply request £1 (more to test card is live).
The retailer/merchant bank will then request the payment in full. These can be upto 14 days, from the origonal date or simply not take the funds if the goods were not provided.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
