Refund?

Hi
I have just received a refund for 9000 from Barclays, however, this was from the initial offer in September 2011. I never received this letter unti Novem ber 2012. They say that I also need a further 14 months payments from 2003 but they are waiting for statements for the archives before they pay this extra payments out. What my question is:

a. As my card is still current should I have an exra 16 months interest on the 9000 that I just have been paid.
b. Will the 14 months payments incurr interest from 2003 to present
c. In the 9000, 2000 of it was interest at 8% should the 8% be recalcualted with the 14 months extra payments from 2003 and the payments from September 2011 to january 2013.

Thanks for your advice, it just so that I have an idea of what to expect when they eventuall do pay me the rest of the money

I'm sorry, but your post makes no sense to me. e.g. how can you be made an offer in September 2011 when it wasn't made until November 2012?

Follow the advice here about reclaiming credit card charges:

You are only entitled to interest at 8% if the matter goes to court and you are awarded this by the court. Any other offer of interest is purely a goodwill gesture by the card company ... so remember to ask nicely :)

Its not that difficult to understand, providing you read it.

The letter was dated September 2011, it wasnt recieved until November 2012 - when the OP presumably responded and their refund was actioned - hence why they have only just recieved it. (the refund)
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

no idea what my nerdnumber is - i am now officially nerd 229, no idea on my debt free date
  • Well I have to say I too found the OP's post confusing and there was more to it than just the date issue hence Wywth's detailed reply.

Given the fact that there is exactly 12 months between the date on the letter and the issue of the refund, perhaps the letter had the incorrect year printed on the date in error? I've received incorrectly dated bank letters before now, some of them pre-dated even!

I'm no expert but it may well be that you would get interest on the extra amount if they awarded it with the recent payment.

£9k refund is an amazing achievement in itself; anything else would be an added (and I'm sure v.welcome) bonus.
