letter from MBNA

Hi

Today I have received a letter from MBNA with whom I have a few credit cards, The letter states that "I have been identified as a customer who belongs to a group of customers who may have been mis-sold PPI"
There is a form to complete in relation to a specific card/account.

My question is that, recently I began the process of claiming back PPI payments on all my cards but was advised on this forum that it was really a waste of my time as I could not prove that I was mis-sold policies if I had just ticked a box when applying for a card.

Additionally I am confused by some of the questions.
1) I would have received full pay for one month if I was sick or injured and unable to work. (I am employed full-time).
Does this hinder any claim?
2) I had no other savings at this point.
Does this hinder any claim?

I am confused and don't want to waste my time applying if this is a standard form sent out for some other purpose and If as advised before It is difficult to prove any misselling.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thank You

I got one of those today too. Not read it properly yet, but would be interested to see what others think about it!
  • MBNA are sending letters out to 200,000 customers who have not yet complained about mis-sold PPI. They will assess your claim on the basis of the information that you provide in the form. For example if you benefited from full sick pay for a set period of time then you must document this emphasising full pay. Again if you had significant saving(enough to cover the balance or 6 months payments) then document this. The general rule of thumb at MBNA is that if you had the means to cover the card payments for 6 months then the policy could have been missold. Once you have sent the form back they will assess it against a type of process flow which will determine if MBNA will uphold or not uphold in your favour. They may require more information and may telephone you to clarify.
If they do not uphold and you feel that it was mis-sold you have 6 months from their final decision letter to go to FOS.

    Good luck!
