I have borrowed a Panasonic NV-GS35 camcorder but have no instruction manual does anyone know how to use it. I have a couple of blank cassettes that were with it and I would like to film and then put it on my computer and then transfer to CD. Any help would be very welcome as I am a complete novice and have no idea what to do. Thanks

Ive got an Panasonic DS77 which looks similar, so might be able to help.

Where do you want to start? The first thing to do is get the film in the camera and get the battery charged.

The Panasonic site lets you download their manuals - see

To transfer the film from the camera to the computer, you will need either a USB or Firewire cable, and a USB or firewire port on your PC (check the manual for details).

You don't *need* a CD or DVD writer on your PC, as there are plenty of firms who will take your tape and copy it to disc for you - but it kind of defeats the point of digital editing, which is that you can take the rough footage that you have shot and transfer it to a computer, edit out the bad bits, put on some titles etc, then copy to disc so that it can be shared / distributed.

No CD ROM (drive) in your computer? Are you sure? Seems unlikely you'll have Firewire or USB 2.0 connections either then.

    Computer details please. :)
