Tax disc
I recently traded in my car and bought a newer Honda Jazz.
I picked up the car on Sunday and got given the little bit of the V5 to send back to DVLA as I had traded my car in to a dealer. I also had my old tax disc with 6 months left on it.
I downloaded the form to claim a tax refund and sent them off on the Tuesday.
Today a tax disc has turned up for a full year for my old car.
The last part of the card number is not any card that I have.
Am I right in thinking that someone has taxed my old car online and because the change of ownership has not gone through yet with DVLA they have sent it to me.
What is the next step now?

OK thanks, Just wanted to check as this is the first time I have traded a car in.
Also how long does it normally take for a V5 to get to you?JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
On average, a couple of weeks.

Option 1) Send it back to the DVLA
Option 2) Make a reasonable effort to find the new owner and get the tax disc to them so that they can actually drive the car they've just paid for. Even if they are a bit of a muppet and should have just gone to the post office.
In either case, make sure the DVLA do actually update their records to show that you have sold the car in order to avoid hassle when your old car shows up on a red light camera photograph of the new owner ploughing into the side of a bus full of orphans and kittens.0
