Wood frame windows - recommendations.

Windows seem to be a bit of a hot topic at the moment; can anyone recommend a company for wood please. Many thanks

    Local joiners?

I had mine made locally and have mixture ( as per requirements under my planning ) of modern standard double glazing and historic standard double glazing. I usually hate the look of Dg, so was amazed how much I love them. They were made to be exact replica's of originals ( where appropriate) and new to personal design.

The clincher for my affection was I matched the recommended sikkens paint to the farrow and ball colour on our unchanged windows.

Thanks, we have had joiner made windows in the past and they were a nightmare so having been once bitten we are a bit reluctant to go down that route.
  • I second joiner made windows, maybe get a few quotes and ask to see previous work before committing to a company for a bit of peace of mind?

I have to agree as well. Local joinery firm every time. Ask if you can visit their workshop and look at windows in various stages of construction.

Do your homework and make sure they are reputable and have an established track record. Don't just do a google search and get the cheapest.

Of course with joinery shop windows they don't always do fitting so you may have the small inconvenience of a building regs application but don't let that put you off.

I can recommend Boyland Joinery but that is not much help if you live oop north.

boulton and poule which is now owned by jen weld do wooden window that come with a 40 year guarantee against rot , they are very good quality but you're probably paying a bit more for that, but you do pay for what you get , if you intend staying at your house for a long time then it would be worth the investment .
