Natwest mobile phone insurance claim

Hello,
I've got an Iphone 3GS registered to the insurance that Natwest provide and its became faulty (not charging). I rang up CPP and put a claim in which they've accepted and will either replace/repair or give me a cheque for the value the phone is worth. I've since dropped it and the screen is cracked which I then advised them of and they said they will still accept the claim.
The only problem is the excess is £100 and I only bought the phone off ebay 6 months ago for £140. Is there any point of me paying the excess? I don't want to pay £100 excess for them to turn around and offer me a cheque for £70-80 or offer me a phone which is no where near as good as an Iphone,.

You have to look at it like this:
"Is what they are going to send you going to be worth £240?"
(100 excess + 140 initial outlay)
...From what you say, the answer in my eyes is a resounding "No"
They'll more than likely send you a refurb from a storeroom in the middle of nowhere that they aquired for peanuts.
With your excess being so insanely huge I think it would be better to put the whole thing down to losses, try and sell your old handset on eBay / Gumtree as spares and get yourself a new phone. Insurance in this case will just spell unnecessary hassle, you won't get what you want/need out of it but you may get a mark against your name with your bank.
Saying this a 140 phone with a 100 excess is a bit silly, why bother?0
