Thing is, if Flash does stop working, it doesn't really affect much else, it's really just used for videos and games on websites these days, hardly mission critical stuff. Just let it update.0

It's not as bad as Windoze update, which re-starts your PC whether you like it or not.
Occasionally play a MMORPG game (escapism you know!) and Windoze update will, occasionally, restart the PC whilst I am halfway through something (warning doesn't pop up on the in-game screen). Annoying as hell.
