Error code 12029. Help!!

My computer is on Tiscali 10 dial up and yesterday afternoon I switched on and clicked Favorites and got HTTP error code 12029 and I can't access my list. I have tried window washing it, changing cookie settings and restoring it to an earlier date but to no avail. Please help before I get really cross!!!

that error usually means a broken link,
when you say you click on favourites, is that from the internet explorer menu or on the tiscali home page?

You could have a virus infection in your Hosts file.

Have you run a full scan?

Also try running AdAware, after selecting these in the options:

General> activate these: "Automatically save log-file" and "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Scanning Engine> activate this: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

thanks for your quick replies.
The code comes up when I clink on favorites from tiscali home page.All the other functions are ok,email etc.
TOG, I am a complete novice at this,I will get mr chrisico to look at your suggestions when he gets home!!
