How do they work?
Im looking at a hefty car bill as my turbo has broken, is there any way of getting a warranty today, saying the car is fine, then claiming next week?
How can you prove when you take out the policy that there are no existing faults?
I dont know how these work so please be nice!

No chance if you've already got a bill. Extended warranties usually pay for themselves whenever the annual service and MOT are due as they will pay for non wear and tear parts which need replacing. The better the make of car the more expensive the warranty and the more money you save once a year.0

Its in the garage at the moment, the work hasnt been authorised to do yet...If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all0

You could try speaking to the garage but it's very dodgy.0

And say what?
Sorry like I said, I dont know much about how these warranties work!
If you buy a warranty do they stop you claiming for the first month or something? If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all0 -
Should an interesting case to read about when this thread gets produced as exhibit B by a bewigged prosecutor..;)0

yes, its called FRAUD - Google it...
Depending on the car, recon turbo should be pretty cheap/available and not that hard a job to do. Swapped out my sister in laws on my drive for her Skoda thing a few years back - took about an hour.0 -
You could, but they'd be pretty suspicious of a big claim being made just after a policy has been taken out, and I imagine it's a common fraud attempt so they will be wise to it. They may even have some fineprint stating that claims made within the first month aren't valid, specifically to avoid the fraud claims.
Your best bet is to just get it fixed, then apply for a warranty incase something else goes wrong.0 -
Of course.
And once your house is burnt down, you can then buy a policy which will pay for it to be rebuilt
And you can buy car insurance which will cover you for the accident you had yesterday.
What do you think? We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
We belong to the Earth0 -
I didnt realise it was that dodgy! I just thought as the work hasnt even been carried out yet I might be able to get a warranty to cover it.
If they are anything like insurance companies Im sure they will do whatever they can to get out of paying up anyway! If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all0 -

This, but only if the extended warranty is from the manufacturer, not from a third party, in which case your best bet it just to put the cost of the warranty into a savings account as the third party ones almost never pay out.0
