BLS Collections!!!!

Forgive me if this gets confusing but really need some help with BLS Collections, i will start from the beginning.
I got into about £7500 debt, and regretably i went to a debt management company. Was paying them for 18 months and my debts hardly went down. I was very lucky to have a family member who offered to help me clear my debts. So i began the task of ringing round all the companies i owed money to and then i came to BLS Collections!!!
I had 2 debts with them both from Lloyds TSB, one for a loan and one for a credit card. The loan was no trouble, got a final partial settlement on that almost straight away, but then it came to my credit card debt!!
I have been ringing them every few weeks since October offering them money (albeit not the full amount) and every time i get told the system wont allow it, feels like a repeat episode of Little Britain (computer says no!!!):mad::mad::mad:
All they keep saying to me is ring back in two weeks and we will see if the system will allow it.
It is so fustrating, i just want to get this paid and they wont let me. I dont get how they can accept a final partial settlement for one debt and not another, they just say it is a different department!!
It was like talking to robots, no matter how many people i spoke to they all just said the same answer!!
Can anyone help!!!!!

Whilst they of course are under no obligation to accept a reduced offer for your debt if you are making such an offer I would suggest always making your offer in writing.
How much are you offering towards the debt? and how much is the balance?
For the debts you have already settled have you got it in writing from each that the payment was in full & final settlement of the debt?
See this factsheet for a template letter to send and adapt - National Debtline Full and Final Settlement Offers
If they don't accept your first offer then maybe try increasing it by a small amount, or just paying token payments for a couple of months and then try making the offer again.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi Tixy
Thanks for your reply.
Totally understand that they don't have to except a reduced offer, but what i don't understand is why they would except a reduced offer for my loan but not the credit card!0 -
They may have paid proportionately different amounts for the loan and the card compared to the balances on each.
Are you paying monthly payments towards them both at the moment? maybe the loan would have taken longer to clear then the credit card at the rate you are paying?
Maybe they are still adding interest on to the credit card but not the loan?
Maybe the person dealing with your loan account had a particular debt collection target they wanted to hit in the month you made your offer?
Could be any of those or other seemingly small issues that make the difference.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
