Nice paraphrase, that's about the gist of it.
Big mistake by this left-wing rag. This was written by some smart-a r s e leftie journalist. It will be completely out of touch with the views of the considerable majority of it's predominantly working class readership.
The Guardian is the only paper that could print an article on these lines and get accolades from those who read it. All those champagne socialists, and self-appointed liberal intellectual elite chattering classes will love to try to divert attention from Labour's glaring democratic deficit on this matter by alleging that it's all down to right wing extremist "toffs".No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Yes should be an interesting poll in 2017, could be Hobson's choice
a) We have just negotiated all your rights away, do you wish to remain a part of a purely Economic area?
or
b) Do you wish to leave the EU?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
It's probably a fair shout to say the EU in 2017 will be unrecognizable from the EU today. Which is all the more reason to have a referendum on membership!

It was interesting watching a few mins of Question Time last week. Nigel Farage was getting huge applause, the kind I haven't heard for a long time (& then usually only when someone was slagging off MPs expenses or banks). The story even as recently as a couple of years ago was very different, he was held decidedly at arms length by a lot of people who seemed barely to be able to differenciate between UKIP & the BNP. There is (IMO) definitely large momentum behind the move to get out of Europe & given that to the average person the only noticeable thing EU membership does is inflict a ton of pointless red-tape upon them it's hard to see why attitudes towards the EU should change for the better any time soon.0 -

What on earth does that mean ? What rights ?No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

trouble is 2017 is too far away. won't help with the millions of bulgarians and romanians coming our way next year. go on street map and look at random streets in the suburbs of Bucharest and then wonder how many will come here for the free housing, schooling and health care. the answer is LOADS.0

The silver lining to that cloud is that it might affect people's judgment when the referendum comes, and help to prevent the political establishment being able to "sell" a capitulation to German hegemony in the negotiations as a success to which they should vote 'yes'.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. Let us start with this one.
http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/www.dh.gov.uk/en/Managingyourorganisation/Workforce/Workforceplanninganddevelopment/Europeanworkingtimedirective/DH_077304The EWTD is a directive from the Council of Europe (93/104/EC) to protect the health and safety of workers in the European Union. It lays down minimum requirements in relation to working hours, rest periods, annual leave and working arrangements for night workers.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Exactly the sort of thing that holds us, and all of Europe, back, while the developing world grows. We should make our own decisions about such things in order to achieve a sensible balance and not be dictated to by unelected bureaucrats who have both feel planted firmly in mid air.
If we can't get away from this sort of B/S then everyone should vote to come out.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

I would suggest it is cobblers like that that is making much of Europe uncompetitive. If someone wants to work 60 hours a week they should be allowed to.0 -
Because it's inconceivable that our own democratically elected parliament could legislate on this issue?0
