I just walked up to the counter. There was a cardboard sign saying you could try one of the well stocked fish for free. I said to the guy I'll have one of them then. Did not need to ask for the big 5.

In my Sainsburys you had to buy one of the fish to get a sustainable fish free, so not really a freebie.

They told me I had to buy another fish to get my free one. I told them that wasn't what it said on the internet, and hey presto....... which fish would you like to try madam? My DD & I both got loch trout totally free. Just had it for my tea, nothing to rave about, but at least it was free.

Stay away from the mussels folks. We've now opened ours to cook them and two thirds are open. What's the point of Sainsburys giving us free stuff that isn't fit for consumption? Seriously unimpressed with Sainsburys.

I think this varied too much store-to-store. Poorly communicated both between Sainsburys and its stores and Sainsburys and its customers.

At my Sainsbury's they told you about the free fish AFTER they had wrapped up the first one. We didn't no about the no obligation but either way it makes it quite difficult to turn it down when it's already done.

Anyway we got one coley. I'm guessing we could have gotten two (1 per person) but we left it at that as we didn't want to buy anymore fish.

Also got the coupon for next month.
