Tax credits and housing benefit random extra payments!

I normally get my payments every 4 weeks.

I think my last ones were around 10th Jan then on the 17th and 18th I recieved another payment from each ... really small amounts .. I've had letters (afterwards) and said I will receive my payments 4 weeks after these dates and continue until further notice (at the normal amount I get).

Just a bit confused as to why this has happened ..
Mortgage

10th August 2014 - Approx £64,750
Overpayments

I know that some benefits they paid weekly, have you changed from being paid weekly, fortnightly to 4 weekly, - or has the day of the week you get paid changed, I know previously the DHSS changed benefit payment dates to fall in line with the last 2 digits of your NI no, 0-20 got paid Mon, 21-40 tues and so forth.

Has there been a change in your circumstance?

But if this was me ( peace of mind and curoisity) I would ring both departments and ask what happened.

I had to contact a benefit department yesterday and there was prerecorded message about a change of dates (sorry, can't remember which benefit - made a lot of calls)

So, I agreee. Give them a call - you may not even have to speak to anyone (always a bonus- sometimes the waiting time is horrendous) and find there is a prerecorded message about this.
  • Well today I received a letter saying that my claim was incomplete ... but I started it months ago and it's been fine ...

Although you've had to hand in each of my wage slips cos when I first started I had back payments and stuff that made my wage stupidly high!

So maybe they start it again each month ... ?

    Woah

Contact both departments. Something has happened and you should have a discussion. Tax Credits will not be able to disclose the change to you but you may want to check all your details are correct.
