DLA reapply advice needed

Hi,
I applied for DLA last year and was refused on the grounds that I didn't need any help. Did appeal and that went awful with three people staring at me and not believing what I was saying. Also they said I was ill just not ill enough ... v helpful.
After my atos assesment for ESA i got 0 points but it does talk about the help I need. Wondering if I could use this to help reapply or whether its a waste of time. As an aside I got into the wrag group not sure why but it may have been the reports my consultants and gp wrote.
Don't want to go through all the stress again if there is no chance of me receiving anything.
Thanks for any suggestions

Hello. I've heard many times on here that a failed ESA claim can count against you for DLA but I'm assuming you appealed the 0 points and were then placed in the work group. Which might be different and actually help you with an appeal I couldn't say for sure as my knowledge of it is limited, someone else will know.
Regarding DLA it is down to what your care or mobility needs are rather than your actual condition(s). So if you don't have any care/mobility needs or medical evidence to back up your needs a claim for DLA would be very difficult. But if you have got medical evidence of your care/mobility needs for your condition(s) that you need help with, then you've nothing to lose by trying again. Otherwise the stress of it might indeed not be worth it. Only you can make that decision. Good luck to you.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

DLA is not awarded for how ill you are its help for the costs of having the disability.
You can be in rude health and get DLA.
Its to help with the associated costs of care and mobility. It seems to didn't "prove" that need.
If the report does state various care needs I would say its worth a shot. But if ever I stray from the path I follow

Thanks for the info guys I may just give it another go. Another questions is it ESA or DLA that doesn't care if your symptoms got worse etc after applying I get all confused with all this information. Makes my head spin thanks to this site though I slightly more clued.Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j0

Well I can only say that in my experience DLA do care if your symptoms have gotten worse. They require you to fill in a change of circumstances form just like if you've improved. Good luck with reapplying

Confuseddot, if you decide to have another go, I'd recommend getting some help with the form filling from an organisation that has expereince - DIAL, CAB or something like that. Apart from anything else, they are likely to keep a copy of your original application, if you agree to it, and this will help if you do need to appeal. The appeal you make has to be based on what you say in the original application, so it's really important to keep a copy in case of needing to appeal.Virtual sealed pot challenge 2022 # 60
