It's taking so long! Its so frustrating!

Hi
I'm getting so frustrated with our chain/ purchase I'm starting to lose hope we will ever move in - just thought I would share my experience and maybe someone has some advice..
Offer accepted on flat 20th Jan. Chain of 5 complete on 10th March.

We are buying an ex-council leasehold flat, everything was ready to go but now our solicitor says the housing asc. (freeholder) need to provide a fire and aspestos certificate for the communal areas. Given that it took 5 weeks to get any info from the housing asc. in the 1st place, I'm worried it will take them ages to provide these certificates. Infact, I have a feeling they dont even have these certificates as apparently it is new legislation that has just come in!

On top of that I have now found out that the person at the top of the chain has been taken very ill and has been unable to sign any documentation. No-one seems to know what is wrong with him and what is happenning.

Now were about to go on holiday, was hoping to have completed by now, and don't have any idea how longer this is going to go on.
Meanwhile prices here in London continue to go up..!

Grrrr! This is so frustrating!
