Hi
I am splitting with my husband and moving out with our 1 year old daughter, I have found a house I would like to rent that accepts housing benefit I just wondered how long does it take for the council to pay you the housing benefit ?
I just dont want to annoy the landlord if it takes forever or them taking the money off my mum (who is being my guarantor)
Thanks

It will vary for each council, depending on how busy they are and if you get all the info they require, to them with your application. You can generally send in the form and supporting info before you move in to the new house, but on the day you move in you will have to give them written notice and your tenancy agreement. In my case it has always taken 4-5 weeks to get the money coming through.
Hope that helps0
