The BIG Plan...

DH is due his last paypacket from current job this month. We know this is going to be lower than usual, but we have no idea what it will be. There will need to be some strict budgeting in March so as to not dip in to the savings. The good news is he starts his new job straight away so there will be no break in income, and the new job pays more too.
Now I'm going to sit and work out a to-do list for today. We have some friends coming over for play and tea tomorrow so need to get some control over the situation now.0 -
Wow! What challenging goals you have, bet you cant wait to reach your 3rd one
.
Ive just started OP my mortgage last month, its got so addictive that me and hubby are contemplating not having a Chinese take out tonight! Lol.
Welcome to this MF forum, wishing you all the best "Don't underestimate the value of financial security"

I spent half the day in bed yesterday as I now have the kids cold/virus type illness. I am on the mend today so need to do a bit of catching up. Kids have an inset day today, which I'm very grateful for. I don't think I could have coped with school run today. They have friends coming to play and for tea this afternoon. I've had two cups of tea, while writing to my to-do for the day.
-wash whites (as DD told me she had no clean vests left for tomorrow:o)
-defrost bread for lunch as I didn't have energy to put BM on last night
-pull out sold ebay item ready for collection tonight
-fix DD school cardie (saving ££ss not buying a new one)
-get two more ebay parcels ready
-clear kitchen
-makes lasagne for tonights dinner
-list childgate on ebay
-write bday cards (all from stash)
-small pile of filing from kitchen
-HHI
-More sorting for baby sale (aim for 20 items)
-finish sorting through old receipts (started this yesterday as I could do this sitting down on the sofa)
I managed a quick tidy through the house and to hoover and wash the floor downstairs last night. The whole house still needs a very good clean, but it looks a lot better. Still have a big pile of 'stuff' on one kitchen side, but most of this should be tackled by various items on the list.
I've aimed for a balance of long/middle/short term to-dos which I think is the way to go otherwise I feel like I'm treading water but not getting anywhere fast. If I get all this done today, I will be very happy.
Plus today will be a NSD0 -
Just having a sit down for 1/2 an hour before playdate this afternoon.
Not quite a NSD today as I've just booked the kids school lunches for the next six weeks.
To-do list now looks like this-
[STRIKE]-wash whites (as DD told me she had no clean vests left for tomorrow:o)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]-defrost bread for lunch as I didn't have energy to put BM on last night
[/[STRIKE]STRIKE]-pull out sold ebay item ready for collection tonight [/STRIKE]
-fix DD school cardie (saving ££ss not buying a new one)
[STRIKE]-get two more ebay parcels ready[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]-clear kitchen[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]-makes lasagne for tonights dinner[/STRIKE] - ended up just make bolognese as I've run out of energy!
-list childgate on ebay
[STRIKE]-write bday cards (all from stash)[/STRIKE]
-small pile of filing from kitchen
-HHI
-More sorting for baby sale (aim for 20 items)
-finish sorting through old receipts (started this yesterday as I could do this sitting down on the sofa)
Still have some way to go but the rest can keep until later. I will do what I can tonight, but need to get an early night too as working tomorrow and I'll need my brain to function for that.0 -
Builder came round last night for a chat and to go through the plans for the house :j
Unfortunately yesterday's to-do list looks much the same as by the time builder had left and we'd had dinner, it was way past our bedtime for a school night!
Worked today, still feeling rotten with this cold.
Having a sneaky lie-down while kids play so I can build up some energy to get dinner under way.
Good points for today
-NSD
-worked so earned some ££s
-Sold three more items on ebay
-ebay item due to be collected
-LO for dinner so very cheap day all in all
-conservatory i.e. site for new extension is starting to look a lot clearer from all the ebaying and decluttering :T
Bad points
DH has informed me that he is not going to start new job straight away, but taking a two week break after current job ends. This means a very difficult March for us, but I have no idea a) how much he will be paid at end of Feb for current job b) how much he will be paid from new job end of March. Both will be lower than normal. I don't even know where to start with the budgetting for these
I still have a lot to sort through before the baby sale this weekend, but not sure I've the energy to do any tonight. Aaaagh I hate being ill, feel like my to-do list it racking up faster than I can clear it
Tomorrow I must as a minimum
-get some milk, cheese and ham (or DH will go to the shops and that's bound to mean trouble:rotfl:)0 -

Hi HelenDaveKids
Baby sale, yes that did make me laugh! It's a local NCT sale of baby and young children's nearly new items. I'm selling all that's left of our baby and toddler items. DS, our youngest, starts school in September so it's time to let go.
Regarding PayPal, I withdraw around two-three times a month. It's being saved for our big holiday next year. If rather it were in a bank account earning interest, and a bit 'safer' than PayPal I feel but that's just me.0 -
Just transferred over some more wages to emergency fund which takes us just over the next big marker -
Emergency savings now stand at £4053.58 :j
On the downside, we've been experiencing some problems with my car. DH took it to the garage today, but the outcome looks pretty bleakI'm really hoping we can fix it, and cheaply, as a new car is really not something that was on the agenda for a good couple of years at least!

Thanks Lois_E
It does feel great to be building up the savings, I just wish we were paying it off the mortgage, but I'll have to wait until Phase 3 for that.
I have also been doing a lot of ebaying this last month so the holiday fund is starting to look pretty healthy for next year.
That currently stands at £2100.00 It's actually a little more than this but I have some ebay postage to pay out of this tomorrow so I've not counted that in.0
