Entitled to

When using the entitled to benefit calculator, does it take into account any income from employment when working out how much council tax benefit and housing benefit entitlement? As in the results its says

"Your full Council Tax bill of £13.12 per week will be reduced to £9.18 per week because of your entitlement to Council Tax Benefit. Our calculation is based on you receiving £104.01 from working tax credit and an Income of £62.09 from child tax credit.

Your full rent of £99.17 per week will be reduced by £69.35 per week because of your entitlement to Housing Benefit. This means you will have to pay £29.82 each week. Our calculation is based on you receiving £104.01 from working tax credit and an Income of £62.09 from child tax credit."

But it doesn't mention anything towards employment income although this is entered into the calculator.

If you have entered correctly your income from your employment then the figures quoted above will take into account what you earn each week.
  • Each type of income is entered as follows wages/salary is top, then pension, then social security and it will go through the various ones that are applicable. I find it best to enter the yearly total for these types of income including the council tax due on the property you rent (or are buying). You input last years income first then if this year is lower, tick box to say that and you then enter this years estimated income and it should give you a very accurate result of what is due for all sort of benefits. If you are on an incomre related one or very low income, then you might well get even more help. But it should tell you at the end what you may get.
