Burgled! Cardiff, Cathays

I got burgled last night and I'm looking for a little support and advice.

Not a huge amount was taken - crime of opportunity.

I've written up a list, got it photocopied and handed it out, but can anyone suggest and likely places I've missed?

I've gone to cash converters and blockbusters on albony road and in central game, cex, pc world on the off chance, money box on the off chance.

Aside from the places in Albany Road, what about the one around the corner on City Road? Is that a Cash Converters too? And to be honest, I'd go to the ones in Canton too.

Check new listings on Ebay and Gumtree too.

Don't expect Game to be of any use at all. They are not interested in helping, even with a crime number. They seem quite happy to fence stolen goods

We were burgled last Wednesday. Like you, it was opportunistic and I believe (as does the police) that we were watched as it happened between 5 and 6pm when we were away swimming. That was 100s of miles away from you though

They didn't take much, and in our case, didn't touch the playstation (then again, it was PS2, and my son's bedroom already looked like it been burgled!!), they did take the TV (flatscreen but old!), mobile, laptop (but not my new one nor my work one!), playbook.

The police took fingerprints, interviewed neighbours and have been in constant contact. I have been extremely impressed with their involvement. They did say that they worked with local cash converters and the like locally and flagged stolen items.

I'd recommend making a search on ebay. I did, but too many similar playbook and no seller selling both a playbook and similar TV/laptop.

Good luck, hope you get your things back or your insurance co-operates.

Im also in cardiff and belong to a fair few of the local selling pages on facebook so will keep an eye out on there for you, hope this gets resolved soon

I was burgled 3 weeks ago.I am fanatical about security but my son came in drunk on a Saturday night at 2am and didnt lock the back door :mad:
They took money and booze, nothing else BUT the aftermath of this for me is huge. I cant sleep at night and I go downstairs about twice a night checking we are locked up.
Anyway. I thought the shop 'GAME' asked for photo ID when buying games from people.?
I'm sorry to hear about what happened though. I wish these thieving scumbags could see the emotional damage this can do to people

I'm also in Cardiff and a member of a few Facebook selling pages that are local. So will keep eyes peeled.

I did read about 7/10 days ago something on the police facebook page about there being 16 burglaries in Grangetown in one afternoon.

Hope you can recover some of your belongings!
