My current employer found my CV on a job website

Options
Hi all,

I uploaded my CV onto 1 or 2 jobsites. I was having a bad week and got a bit annoyed so stuck it on. I got a few calls from recruiters but it came to nothing.

I am not actively looking but I was looking to see what was out there.

Now, I have an email from my current employer asking why they found my CV on sites.

Should I be honest? I don't want my employer to think any less of me or hold it against me - does anyone know what employers think in this situation?

Thanks in advance :)

You could be honest and say that you were having a bad week , if its a decent employer they might even , ask why , and help out in future..

Tell the truth, it's a strength to know your value the skills you have. Your employer has made an investment in you and you may be able to help them understand issues from the employees point of view.

Did you ask if they were looking on these sites for potential new employees. You might know suitable candidates.

No I never asked them that. I believe that they are currently looking for new employees at the moment.

Because you work for money and if a better offer comes up, so will you.

Dear employer, for the same reason that explains why you were looking.:)

    Just be honest about it.

I'd go with this. It's not the honest answer but it could potentially save a lot of trouble.

No harm in saying you were just testing the water to see what was out there...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
