Student account for US study?

I wonder if this will be allowed ... I suspect not!

I'm off to the US in August to do a DPhil - I have proof of a place and proof of funding.

I'll need to keep a UK bank account going - will I be able to open a (co-op) student bank account on this basis?

Cheers,
rubuhoe

Why not just use your current bank account or open a standard current account with another bank? Nationwide might be a good choice as they don't charge for overseas withdrawals. You can then open a US student account when you get there.
  • Gunning for the interest-free overdraft, you see :)
