Halifax current account switch - £100 for switching?...staff dont have a clue...

Hi all,
I may have added this in the wrong section as its not a credit card... Well as you all are probably aware that Halifax are giving away £100 if you switch your existing current account to them.

T & C include:
- minimum of 2 Active direct debits and any income (wage, or benefit etc..)

I phoned them up to find out whether 2 active standing orders would be classed as direct debts, since its still money going out each month, the guy on the phone said yes of course would you like to switch, at the time i didnt have any of my card details so i said to him yes but not now, i will do it in branch as it will be more quicker.

I went to the branch on my lunch break, waited 40 minutes until i was actually seen and then when it come to switching my account across i got told i will not be given the £100 incentive as standing orders wont be classed as direct debits. I was immensley hacked off considered i was told one thing and then another, so rather than switching i told the guy its not worth the time and headache and walked out.

Im wondering whether anyone has experienced this before?
