Any advice appreciated

I am moving into a property and need to get an energy supplier. I have never had an account and all these options available are all new to me. I have no idea where to start or who to choose!

If anyone has any advice on how to go about it, I would appreciate it

Go onto a comparison site and use estimates for the type of property - uSwitch (and probably others) just ask you questions to establish that.
Just use anything for your current provider. Then see what it suggests. I'd look for a tariff with no cancellation penalty so that you can switch away at no cost, if necessary once you've established a usage pattern. Mind you, you really need a full year to get a realistic view of your actual usage.

You will already have a provider or providers-the existing ones, with whom you are in a deemed contract as soon as you use the utilities. Take opening readings on day one and register for an account (or accounts) with them. Once you've done that, you can commence a switch if you wish, which will take 4 to 5 weeks.
The above is for gas and electricity. For water, you don't have a choice, just register with the regional supplier.
