Apple laptop charger_Satisfactory Quality

I've purchased 6 chargers in 4 years from apple because they keep breaking. They are out of the stat warranty period

    How can they be?

Stat warranty is 12 months, so 6 charges in 4 months means at least some must have been under 12 months old when breaking?

Have you actually ever taken them to an Apple store to complain with your proof of purchase?

We have had 2 apple laptops over a number of years. One the casing split after about 14 months and Apple replaced it no questions asked. That one is still going fine, the other one the outer casing split after about 2 years but another 18 months on it got no worse and we never bothered doing anything else to it.

Well this nearly 5 year old Macbook is still on the original charger with the old type connector, no sign of fraying and still like new! So what are you doing to it?
I would also say that you shouldn't leave it plugged in all or most of the time! The battery needs discharging regularly.

For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her notebook on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month. Need a reminder? Add an event to your desktop’s iCal. When your battery no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs, you may choose to replace it. If your notebook came with a built-in battery, you should have the battery replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider."

I do nothing to it, it sits on the chair arm, it doesn't move. It did move when I took it to Uni but that was 2 years ago. I find it amazing that it can fray considering nothing rubs against it.

I also discharge it every month as recommended and have done the same with all the MacBook's I've owned.
