Neighbour died....not sure what to do next?

I think that water was involved (hot water) - I curse that fact that I am an avid watcher of Bones, which described scenes such as this disturbingly accurately.
The extractor fan doesn't really help that much - I think Environmental Health is the way to go.
It beggars belief that today you have to pick up a dog turd but can leave a house with the remnants of a messy death without doing anything.0 -

I think the heating was on. And the hot water was still running.0

Not 100% sure, but I think the neighbour may have been in the bath, or at least on the floor of the bathroom with hot running water overflowing. Not pleasant.0

hmmm, horrible situation, is it possible it's the water that is causing the smell?Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

I wonder if there might have been food in the house which has gone off?0

If you soaked your bathroom with water for 3 days and left it it would stink, forget the poor woman's body, that's enough, just the water.
Wet carpet = smell, sopping carpet going through the floor and onwards will reekBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
Could be, I suppose. It certainly won't help! I know the drain outside is looking rather nasty - I've poured a ton of soda crystals down it but it is still not back to normal.
As I mentioned earlier, when the homes were built the dividing wall goes all the way down to the foundation, so I hope that any dampness that we may find under our boards is just from excessive water that has pooled and if the ground has saturated enough it may be coming up slightly.
If this is the case, I'm seriously hoping that the dirt stuff under the floor (older house) filters any nasties.0 -
I will ring Environmental Health first thing tomorrow morning and hope that they can advise. If not, not sure what I can do.0

Hi
Apart from the possible problems regarding the deceased, if the heating is on any of the following would cause a stink.
1. If they used the loo and it was not flushed
2. If they left out food that would also have decomposed by now
3. If the leccie has run out and either the fridge or freezer has decomposed.
Been there, cleaned up and nearly threw up. Could not even eat or drink in the house for several days (windows would not open either). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
