Before I start I have searched the forum but not found a definitive answer !!
When tablets first came out I thought 'why on earth would you want one of those ?' so when I received a Kindle Fire HD I was surprised how much I loved it !!
But no matter how good it is, the frustration of being limited to Amazon apps especially when I have an Android phone etc etc
So rather than rooting it I have decided to sell and replace it with either a Nexus 7 or Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Please help me choose which one and why ?
Further info, I have a Samsung Phone, TV and Blu Ray surround system which have all performed excellently !!
Many Thanks
Richard

Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

I recently bought a Galaxy tab 2 10.1 - It is the 16GB version and has 3G
It's brilliant - It also has a slot for a micro SD card for expandability.
I am more than happy with my purchase - Bought from Amazon for £238 and got £50 cashback from Samsung - Bargain at £188
The spec on the Nexus is awesome, but I felt I need the expandability and the 3G which is why I decided on the Samsung.0 -
Thanks Mike.
I don't need the 3G so perhaps there is not much difference between the two apart from the price (£40) and the expandability !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
I think it depends how you are going to use it. I work with students and I think that the back camera provided by the Samsung is a useful feature as it can be used to photograph or video things like practical processes. I've also found being able to expand the memory useful after filling up an old iPad.0

You can also have extra memory on the N7, you buy 1of these and you buy the media importer app from the play store.0

I had this dilema at the end of last year - I ended up going for the nexus (32gb)
i was worried about the storage as I want to use it in the car for music, but I just make up playlists on google music and download what I'm listening to in the car that week (I don't that many miles!) - plus I have the otg cable so can use extra storage if needed...
My biggest concern with the samsung is the software, with the nexus device you get pure android and updates as soon as they are released, with the samsung you'll get the updates when samsung have taken it and had a play with it (got totally stung with waiting for an andriod update on htc before, not sure how fast samsung churn them out)
I think the hardware on the nexus (on paper anyway) should outperform the samsung but whether it is a noticable difference I'm not sure...
If i was you, I'd go and have a play with them, see which you like best, or work out what apps you want to use and see if they perform better on either deviceThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Samsungs touchwiz overlay is not a huge difference to to pure android, as most people tend to download apps to alightly alter how there devices work anyway.
You need to tell people what you want to use it for, before anyone can say yes this will be better or the other one.
Nexus has the better screen and processor, so better for games and films. Updates are straight away.
Samsung tab 2, has a decent screen, better storage capability, without use of OTG. (may get some way to connect to hdmi at some point), yes have to wait extra cpl of months for update.
So depends on what you want it for and the only other difference is price, so £160 for tab 2 or £199 for nexus 7 32gbMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0
