Help - Sugar Snap Peas snapped!!

My sugar snap peas have snapped!!!

I have put a cane into the tub and tied the stem to it loosely but it has snapped higher up!

What can I do to stop them snapping? If I go out and buy a trellis will it be ok to wrap stems round it?? The other suggestion I heard was to put 3 canes together to make a tripod type structure but they may still snap.

Any ideas???

    A tripod-like structure with 3 canes should be more than strong enough, my mum's been doing it for years without a problem. If you just want one then why not tie three of them together tightly to make one very thick cane!

    I use twigs pushed into the ground and let them clamber over on their own.
