What help do you need? Ucas is mostly self explanatory .- you just need to decide where your reference comes from as that depends whether you sign up as an individual or through an organisation. You're probably an individual.

Personal statements are about the subject mainly. Hop along to https://www.thestudentroom.com as they have a personal statement help service that can review it for you. There's also a librsry of sample statements but tbh most aren't great.

Not wishing to brag, but I've done a few personal statements over the years and I've helped a couple of people from here with getting onto nursing courses. I'd be happy to have a look at a draft.

Don't let the UCAS form overwhelm you. Its all online so you can go in and out of it and make changes up until you submit. As long as you follow the instructions you'll be fine.

I would ask your manager to write your reference if she's supportive. You just supply her e-mail address and UCAS get in touch.

thanks Juno and person_one. I've worked a week solid so havent had a chance to think about it but I'm going to sit down and have a good look at it on my day off on Thursday. :) had a chat to some of my qualified colleagues at work and also our student at the moment and got some ideas so I'm feeling a little happier.

    I've done it... I've applied :)

Flying through my NVQ so I've put it down, one extra thing to add. It took my boss a month to do my reference  but she's finally done it and it's very good... so keeping my fingers firmly crossed! Excited :)

Excited is good - much better than anxious!

    Good luck.

Bad news :( Derby rejected me :( UCAS told me I was eligable for Extra so I've gone through that, if that fails its a case of pulling out entirely and reapplying next year. Clearing was mentioned but unfortunately isnt an option for me due to my notice period at work. Better news was that Derby said I was just too late (I wouldnt have been if it hadnt took so long for my reference ) I've applied to two unis I wouldnt have thought of otherwise - Birmingham City and Staffordshire as they both had places available. BCU is my preferred one out of the two I think for several reasons mainly because the course start date is later, October rather than September. Both are near enough for me to get back to OH at weekends which is what I'm planning to do, even with Derby I was planning to move out and into some sort of accomodation - if I get into BCU i'm thinking of going into halls which is probably the most cost-effective option.
Just waiting on a response now... hopefully its favourable :)
