Wedding venue nightmare

Hey all, i dont know if anyone can help me...

I booked my wedding at a venue in august last year for Oct 2013 Ever since signing the contract and paying over £1500 deposit we've had problems from the off, getting reciepts from them (they appeard to think an invioce of £1500 was a reciept!)getting a full breakdown of everything included in the price, they really came across as not knowing what they were doing! We met with our designated wedding coordinator almost 6 weeks ago to discuss the issues we had had with the management and she reassured us that now we were dealing with her we were in safe hands and that a room we had been charged £750 for use of for the ceremony which was actually too small to fit our guests in (and actually have an aisle for me to walk down or even space to get in the door!!) would be taken off the bill. So i came away feeling happy and reassured, 5 weeks on and i had no confirmation of this and no contact from them i rang several times to no reply! So i emailed the co-ordinator a few days ago to chase this saying as she'd already understood we were anxious due to previous problems and that we wanted the confirmation of this and feel almost 6 weeks is sufficient enough time etc we re-highlighted that we feel we have recieved a very poor service and that our trust in them to handle our special day was rapidly deteriorating etc and we wanted to know what was going to be done about this.... I have had no reply....

Our contract says we are liable for 25% of the total wedding cost
if we cancel, which means we would actually still owe them a couple of hundred pounds which i certainly dont want to hand over to them when i have had such a poor service, and is there a possibility of getting my deposit back? or at least some of it?

This is causing me so much uneccesary stress and i would be extremely grateful for any advice

Thank yooooou
