Line rental only with Plusnet not possible

I wanted to get my mother switched to Plusnet so she could get free calls to her 3 sons who are all on Plusnet but the plan has backfired as Plusnet won't do Line rental on its own without BB.She is 97 and doesn't even know what BB is,but I'm at a loss to work out why they won't do line rental only.I guess its because they don't make enough profit without the BB.Does anyone have any ideas why this is.

You're possibly correct, but that's their business model and there's not much you can do unfortunately! Plusne are really only reselling BT's product and you can get free weekend calls with landline only with BT, or evening and weekend calls for an extra £3.30.

Any reason you particularly wanted Plusnet? I'm with them and have had no problems, but for landline only Tesco & Primus appear to do evening & weekend calls included with landline only, and are cheaper?

Because they're a broadband supplier who then expanded into offering line rental and calls. Many other suppliers are similar, and all offer 24/7 call packages for around a fiver per month. There is no free Plusnet to Plusnet offer on any residential tariff.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I stand corrected, however this feature is not offered on the Plusnet Essentials tariff though, only on the Anytime or Anytime International options?
And Plusnet don't exactly highlight it, strangely enough.

Not quite sure where you got that from as its mentioned on their website (see my cut and paste in post #4) and I'm only on the 'Essential' package.I agree they should make more of it as I think its a very valuable extra.
