Feeling sad when giving things up

We're in a tight financial situation at the mo, as I'm sure a lot of us are, and I've sold lots of things to scrape together some extra cash. My gold went last week, which I did feel a little sad about but I've just listed some of my treasured collectables and although they were just sitting in a display cabinet and were of no use, I can't help but feel depressed over losing something I used to get great pleasure from collecting.
I do get quite anxious about getting rid of things anyway and lately I had improved but now I'm feeling really down
I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place because I'm loathed to give up my things but need the cash so desperately I feel forced to.
Sorry to put a downer on everythingOh hun, I'm not surprised you're feeling down.
There's a big difference between decluttering things which you no longer like, or never liked, and shedding treasured belongings because you're in a crisis. They're not the same thing at all. I declutter regularly but it isn't stuff I attach value to, therefore it isn't carrying an emotional punch.
If you went through my flat and said Give away/ sell the things you value most, and I had to do it, I would be dead miserable too.
Please don't feel that there is a "house style" on OS which means everyone should be shedding belongings like crazy and be ecstatically happy about doing it. Lots of people aren't in that position, or have shed all the low-hanging fruit and are up against it, financially, and making some unwelcome subtractions.
Take care of yourself and always hold in your mind that This, too, shall pass.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

huge hugs, its awful feeling, but if you can keep head above water for now,
my way of coping when i had to streamline all my stuff a few years ago was, if there was fire Id only grab the children and animals, they are truly only 'things' no one can take your memories, and one day soon youll enjoy buying new, but at the moment needs must x:A :j0 -
Just a bit of support from me.. I get like this sometimes and I try and look on the positive side. I have a wonderful family, a roof over my head, and food in the cupboard. Yes, it's tough, but at least I'm not on the street with my life in a couple of carrier bags,

The thing to remember is that it's all just 'stuff'. What's really important is that you have a roof over your head, food and warmth, anything else is a nice extra.
I've been in the position where I had to sell everything I didn't need to live just to stop my house being repossessed, 11 years later and my house is as full of 'stuff' as it was before that point.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
