Price of BA Flights Rocketed!!!

I was checking prices of flights in November from London to LA last week. Found some decent fares.

Decided i would book them today. They have gone up £150!!!!!!!

Could this be an increase in the fuel surcharge???

I’m mightily disappointed, as can't now afford the trip!!!!

  • Wait until later in the week, flights prices will drop. I always find that flights are always more expensive on a Monday when checking, but they come down roughly around Thursday, Friday.

No, it's the price going up as the cheap seats disappeared whilst you were waiting.

Fuel surcharges will (hopefully) be coming down in 2007.

Look a day either side, or other airlines, you should hopefully find something you are happy with. And then book it.
  • Cheers for your input!!!!

I will be checking them towards the end of the week, and hopefully find something to book! I won't be waiting around this time!!!

Have a look on the American Airlines site, but be sure to check the box so that it shows you flights on "partner airlines", one of which is BA.

That site often has low fares on BA after they have all been sold by BA itself. It also enables you to avoid the fee for paying by credit card. Don't worry about the price being in dollars: one you enter card details (but before you actually pay) it converts the fare into the currency of where your card is registered.

A lot of people hold options on flights at the weekend, so monday prices are usually high, by midweek these are released and the price falls.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • Seeing that November is not exactly high season, I'd personally hold off until much later in the year - say September.

I had the same problem. Indecision costs you money! Checked prices last Thursday for a family trip to Orlando and when I checked and was going to book on Friday, price had increased by over £700.

Phoned around and one company (don't know if I can mention who) gave a quote at original price and still the same flight times etc.

    Cheers for everyone’s help!!!

I have however found a flight from London to LA with Air New Zealand. I’ve not used them before, but im willing to give it a bash!!!!!

If not as 'Takecareofthepennies' says it’s not high season so i could just wait off and see what turns up. Only problem with that is hotel i want to stop at may be booked up by then :(
