Does anyone know what the difference in Comfort Plus Chalets and Comfort Plus Apartments is at Haven Hafan Y Mor?
I tried phoning Haven and the man I spoke to was only able to quote the same information that I could get from their website but I couldn't see any difference in spec except the price!

At the risk of sounding obtuse - are the chalets and apartments simply different prices because they're different types of accommodation, regardless of spec?
Failing that I'd assume that the one being a higher price than the other is due to these possibly being newer units or ones that are more spacious.
Of course if someone at the holiday park itself is unable to offer an explanation then I'm not sure who will be able to!0 -
I couldn't see any clear difference either, except type of building.
Chalets are detached - might mean easier for children to play just outside/put clothes out to dry? Not clear.
Says SOME chalets have two storeys, so could be an accessibility issue for some people. Assume apartments are all on a level; assume lift access.but not clear. Would assume you can park rright next to chalet, possibly not next to apartment? Again, not clear.
So if you have a specific query about wanting outside space, accessibility or parking, I'd ring again with a more focussed question. If not, I don't think there's much to choose between them.0 -
Its a mystery.. if you use the compare tool it states in the listing..
"Apartments are not detached and will have either a bath or a shower."
"Chalets are not detached and will have either a bath or a shower."
I was interested in this park for summer having passed it on my many times staying in the area, the fact it has so much onsite is very attractive with kids.
What has put me off is if you look at the sheer size of the place and include touring caravan and camping visitors, multiply each accommodation by 2 to 4 people - in the peak season its going to be HEAVING, which means queues, noisy site, constant comings and goings, small beach will be choka, activities will need plenty of pre booking.
I am trying to find somewhere quieter in the area at the moment, there is plenty to do around if you know the area and don't mind jumping in the car a bit so I am willing to give up facilities for a quieter life.
I may be wrong about Haven Hafan, but that's what I have found in other large parks during peak, if your going off peak it would be a whole different fish.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -

My parents owned a caravan at Hafan-y-Mor for a year so we went about four or five times at different times of the season and to be honest it didn't really appear too busy with a couple of exceptions. For one thing because the site is so big there's plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The caravans (or at least my parents) were quite well spaced with plenty of grass outside for the kids to play. I'd imagine most parts of the park are fairly quite and we had to problems with noise, etc on any of our visits.
The places that did get busy were the swimming pool (especially when the weather wasn't great) and the Showbar sometimes got very busy at night making it difficult to find a table. Otherwise it wasn't too bad and we rarely had to queue for anything or pre-book activities. The beach is ok providing the tide is out, when the tide is in it pretty much disappears completely!
There is another, smaller, Haven site a couple of miles from Hafan-y-Mor called Greenacres - http://www.haven.com/parks/north-wales/greenacres/. I haven't been there but I'd guess it's a lot quieter than Hafan-y-Mor.The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

Thanks, I will check it out. I have been to a similar huge park in Devon, Ruda and it was very busy. I suppose it depends how much privacy and 'personal space' your used to I guess, I do prefer cottages and villas to hotels! At Ruda they had some well spaced wood lodges which I was fortunate to be able to afford and they were well away from the general masses so ideal.
Ideally I want a 2 bed cottage with a private indoor pool within easy walking distance of a pub with good food and a beach!! what are the chances?? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -

There are pine lodges at Hafan-y-Mor. They're located right on the edge of the site in a wooded area which is well away from the chalets and close to a beach (and not the beach the masses head for). It's obvious that Haven have set out to make this part of the site more "upmarket" than certain other areas.
I think the lodges are all privately owned but if you Google "Pine Lodge Hafan-y-Mor" you'll find rental listings, eg - http://www.wales-breaks.co.uk/propdetails.cfm?propid=6498The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water

I've been to Greenacres loads of times. It is much more compact than Hafan-Y-Mor with direct access to Black Rock Sands (no roads to cross at all). The park map is useful for gauging how big the site is: http://www.haven.com/download/park-maps/greenacres.pdf I think people are often put off by the rows but it feels more spacious than it looks and the signage is good if you do find yourself a bit lost.
The only downside to Greenacres is the pool hasn't been changed in 20+ years, however there was talk last year of it being re-developed over this winter but I'm not sure if that has taken place. If a good pool is important to you it might be worth ringing Haven and asking.
There are private hire caravans on this site: http://www.ukcaravans4hire.com/greenacres.html
There's also this caravan site: http://garreggochpark.co.uk/index.htm#.UQAFryfZaSo
which is right next door to Greenacres. You could stay on that site and buy passes for the entertainment complex on Greenacres (I think they still allow you to do this, but someone please correct me if I am wrong).0
