Incapacity Benefit

I was long term sick for about 8 years on income support then got a job april last year.
I'm finding it harder and harder to do my job and am considering quiting. Now that i've paid NI contributions for a year would i be entitled to Incapacity benefit and would i be entitled even though my partner is working and on a good salary?

You must have qualifying earnings relating to Class 1 contributions paid or treated as paid in one of the last 3 tax years before the benefit year in which the incapacity for work began is what the information says.
The only way of finding out is applying.
As Incapacity Benefit is not a means-tested benefit you will get the whole benefit. You may not get any Income Support due to your partner's salary.0 -
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

The tax year that has just ended would not be used in assessing if you could get Incapacity Benefit so you would not be entitled to it.0

My husband recently applied for IB , he had to have paid enough NI contribs between April 04 and April 06. I hope this helps.0

"The National Insurance Condition
To qualify for Incapacity Benefit you must have:
actually paid in one of the last three complete tax years before the relevant benefit year, NI contributions of 25 times the Lower Earnings Limit.
paid or been credited with 50 times the lower earnings limit in each of the last two complete contribution years (April to April) before the benefit year (January to January) in which a claim is made."
