Rbs debit card / account pump card

Anyone know why my rbs so called debit card wont work at a petrol pump - went to branch they said it would work.

It doesnt anyone help?

There are quite a fe debit cards that do not work in self service petrol pumps.

Best described as Auth All cards (some say online/offline).

These pumps auth for £1 or £2 and then will debit for the full amount.
Something that does not sit with Auth all cards. As they need to auth the full amount.

Perhaps posting the 1st 6 digits of your card will help other RBS card holders match up to the type of card you have.

If you have a card that displays the Visa Debit logo and starts with the numbers 4751 27 or 4751 28, you will only be able to use your card at a retailer or supplier of services where they can authorise the transaction with us at the time of the transaction being made. If this is not possible the transaction will be declined. A retailer or supplier of services may also ask us for authorisation in line with.

Was that not the temp cards sent out to the customers transfering to santander?

Either way that card can only be used online and the sample applies to my previous post.

All banks offer 2 options.
Auths all or not auth all.

Number 5 & 6 are the ones that count.

yeah it was the temp cards - i spoke to rbs branch they said it should work everywhere - there thick so annoying that they dont know anything.

Nationwide are ten times better
